Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris born October 20, 1964) is an American politician and lawyer who is currently the 49th vice-president of the United States. She is the first woman elected vice president, and she is also the most powerful female officer in American history. She is a senator and former US senator who represents California. Born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then she was recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected as the city's district attorney. She was elected Attorney-General of California in 2010, and reelected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States senator from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the second African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who fought for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling cannabis. The path towards citizenship for migrants who aren't legal. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. The attention of the nation was drawn by her outspoken questioning of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings. The most notable was Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual misconduct.
